We are proud to announce the new book, Portraits of Expectations: Coping Beauty, is now available as a PDF version. This was not the original intention of book due to expectations, but there was a shift in priorities that overruled the expectations. This is as it should be.
You can get it by going to the Zines page of this website.
The idea of a conventional photobook contains a level of prestige, but more important than that is the message and the story. This is a story that is about a very important subject and was beautifully and powerfully delivered.
Mental health does not care what your race, sexuality, gender, or income level you are at. The idea of a book edition and a magazine edition opened doors of affordability for different levels. This book has exceeded first month expectations, but it is still out of reach for some and it is not in a format they may be accustomed to.
A few weeks ago I was part of an intensive workshop with 6 other photographers. In the sharing we spoke about the industry and your personal priorities and goals. In my world the story is what matters most. I prefer photo books. I love them. But they are expensive and not everyone sees the value in that experience. But people love stories and I love sharing stories that matter visually and in written word.
In July, Pat Green Zine Mini Documentaries will showcase it’s first issue! It will be economical, beautiful, consistent, and now will be available in print and as a pdf edition as well.
Books, magazines and digital are mere delivery systems of stories we all enjoy.
I am building a brand of quality and passionate art that tells those stories that connect us together. If you are making a comfortable living, I need your help.
But starving artists don’t actually create much meaningful art. Too much energy is expended on empty stomachs and debilitating worries.
I am asking you to invest in me, invest in the time to create, the necessary marketing, equipment and travel to find the people and the stories that matter.
We will tell these stories with bi monthly 20 page documentaries presented digitally and in high quality print magazines available at reasonable prices that benefit everyone.
Your investment brings the documentary photography into the 21st century and tells stores that matter about people who matter. We’ll create a community to connect writers and artists to readers. Together, we can make that dream live.
